What got you into aviation?

After @boeingisbetter made a thread asking people what got them into Infinite Flight I starting wondering how y’all got into planes in the first place. This thread is just so you can share how you got interested in aviation!

Obviously be respectful and don’t share sensitive personal information lol.

I’ve liked it for as long as I can remember. My mom has a picture of me sitting in an e190 cockpit when I was in diapers lol. Idk I guess I was just born with the love for aviation

After facing some rattling turbulence on a Spirit flight earlier this year I was super jarred and decided to research just how bad turbulence could really be. I stumbled on a Wikipedia article about some accident where a person died from turbulence (don’t try to tell me which one it was, I don’t remember). One link clicked led to another as Wikipedia rabbit holes usually do and I quickly became obsessed with plane crashes. As the months passed this went from an obsession with plane crashes to one with planes in general, so here I am.

My dad taking me to LAX by the proud bird to watch planes arrive and Dockweiler park while planes departed since I was 4,5 or 6, can’t remember exactly but it has been my whole life. Infinite Flight is definitely one of the things that makes my life happy and fulfilled.

Ever since I remember I was in love with aviation. My second flight of my life was on a B747 coming after an A320. I was addicted to the roars of engines while the plane was taking off. I was just born with a passion for it. My dad is also into model making and used to make model fighter planes and I used to play with them (sometimes breaking them). I was just amazed at this piece of metal flying in the air making a cool noise (literally my thought process when I was 2).

My dad and my pop were in the RAAF and they would always take inside the aircraft
I’ve been inside the C-17 Globemaster twice and the E-7A Wedgetail three times, I had the privilege to help work on one of the interactive pieces in the RAAF heritage centre, I’ve been able to view all aircraft from ATC, I’ve been inside a Super Hornet and viewed them all from the taxiway
And that’s how I got obsessed with planes

Been fascinated with aviation for as long as I can remember. What probably sparked it was flying for the first time on board a JetBlue A320 and falling in love with flying

I remember in 2013, I got a ryanair model which i played with and then watched youtube videos in relation to aviation (wizzair edits) and then started to expand my love for aviation like buying my first simulator (infinite flight)! This was when I was 4 years old!

My dad’s friend is JAL’ s pilot. He taught me a lot about JAL, or about 787 which he flies since I had no passion about aviation. But I grew up, started realise that the world is big, it has so many places to explore, at the same time I thought the pilot is so cool because they have been flying around the world, just imagine it. I think that’s why I’ve got my passion to aviation.

I’m actually not quite sure when exactly I’ve got that, but no doubt that was one of my reasons

I was born into aviation. When my dad was younger, he used to go planespotting at FLL with his dad and see all the 727s and L1011s. When I was around 2, my dad decided to take me to the airport and i fell in love with it

True, one of my first memories of a plen is an American eagle erj-145 in the old livery… and also the old Olympic a340s (@whyevenbothernaming summon)

Most memorable is the chrome American livery. They were almost all gone by the time I was even 5, but I remember them vividly.

Flying to Senegal and meeting pilots on the way. Flying A340s across the Middle East was also a factor. I was interested in becoming an emergency services person but aviation later took over. Here I am, almost done w my PPL and working with UA in various ways at 17. Hopefully later flying the 737 with United in 10 years.

My first flight in memory, SIN-SFO via Hong Kong and Vancouver on CPA when I was 4. It made a big impression on me and basically kickstarted my journey down the rabbit hole of avgeekery.

Same, only I just looked it up instead of experiencing it myself :)

Seeing this beast fly over me back in September of 2012.
