I’m a bit new to the simulator still and I was wondering what requesting a transition does? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
An aircraft transitions tower’s airspace when it is flying through, not landing. Tower will reply with a minimum altitude you must fly to avoid interfering with arrivals, departures and pattern work.
Take a look at this tutorial:
A transition is when an aircraft intends to pass through tower airspace boundary. So that aircraft needs a safe altitude to pass through without also interfering with local traffic that’s at that specific airport.
The key to this is you only request when you are going to be flying within the inner most ring of the towers airspace and at, or below, 5000ft AGL.
You do not call in from 32,000 ft and request a transition as you are not, and will not, be in towers airspace.
