I’ve been gone for a long while, such a long while that I missed 25.1 and pretty much all of the hotfixes. I’ve pretty much just returned to flying now that it’s summer and my exams are out of the way. Anyway I’ll get to the point. I flew from Gatwick to Lanzarote and back today and when I spawned into Gatwick to begin my first leg I noticed there was about 8 aircraft on the ground, not moving, just noted as ‘parked’, and when i looked at them on the map, it said ‘background’ and the duration of time they’d been in the ‘background’ for. When I got back to Gatwick 7 hours later, they were all still there, parked. Is this a new feature or something I should be aware of because it confused me quite a lot
. Thanks IFC and it’s good to be back.
Hey!
In the context of the “parked” aircraft, this is part of an in-development feature which is mostly unknown at this point - you can see more below:
__
Aircraft that are in the air and marked as “Background” - this indicates that they have AutoPilot+ enabled, a feature introduced in 25.1.
Thanks benny. I was thinking it was something to do with AP+. The ones on the ground were all marked with stars so I assume it’s some sort of development feature like you said. Surprised they were all there for over 7 hours though ![]()
You can actually see them today and you will most probably be able to see them even a month after that. That’s something that happened with me at Narita.
Interesting. Wonder why they’re there for so long
