Aviation has reached many millstones over the years and is one of the most technologically advance and safe industries in the world. Past Milestones like first trans Atlantic flight, first super sonic flight for example of past milestones.
But what do you think will be the next big milestone in aviation and what changes do you think that it will bring?
This has already occurred with the Concorde back in the '70s. 😂 However, it is soon the be revived with Boom Technologies and their aircraft that they have been working on. I think bringing super sonic flight back to paying customers is near, and will be the next milestone. This, and the Virgin Galactic work that has been going on will be game changers in aviation over the years.
I think, and it’ll be a gradual change rather than a ‘single flight milestone’, that a complete change to some kind of renewable, cleaner biofuel is next. A complete change from today’s Avgas
I agree with @Matt_Elphick. There are already some electrical planes out there, just they’re not economical yet. I´ve read (in a magazine) about a goal of Airbus to build (in cooperation with Simens) an 100 passenger all-ectro powered plane. So far Airbus has already built that E-Fan and Simens that Extra 330LE to test on.
I dont know how close that is, but I think that will be the next milestone. Another possibillity would be the hybrid-powered aircraft. But I don´t think the future will build on hybrid´s.
Kinda of a stretch, and maybe not the next milestone, but maybe we will be to fly supersonic again. Hopefully we’ll find a way to make anyone that’s powerful engine and fuel efficient enough.
The day we will have aircraft powered on electricity. Think about the bmw hybrid cars. Inflight they would charge using solar power(already done by solar impulse) then at night they can use energy saved from solar or energy from the ground supply at the airports…good idea eh! ;)
