What do i do when im on the ground preparing for flight

Simbrief gives you a full flight plan which you can import into Infinite Flight.

oh thx, i wanna ask can i c where are the players that i following a?

click on your profile in the top left then in the bottom left it should say how many people you are following and how many people follow you - click on those to see the list of people.

Can i find them on the map ļ¼ˆthe specific locationļ¼‰?

No there isnā€™t a way to highlight followed players on the map - fingers crossed we get something like that in the future.

If Iā€™m sitting at a gate for over 30 minutes itā€™s probably because Iā€™m busy solving quantum mechanical equations or plotting my ultimate rise to power and total world domination (while the catering truck loads the plane up with Kinderjoys and energy drinks of course)

Hereā€™s a rough rundown of what I do:

  • Set up my flight plan (sometimes using Simbrief, sometimes not)
  • Set up SIDs/STARs
  • Load up fuel/PAX/cargp
  • Determine which runway Iā€™ll be using for departure and arrival (if ATIS isnā€™t present)
  • Check weather at my arrival airport to prepare
  • Determine altitudes and step climbs/descents (if applicable)

The shorter the flight, the less time it takes for me to plan
I usually start by connecting ground services then going to map, setting up departure, checking fr24 for patterns and (what usually takes the most time) inputting pacific tracks manually (since IF doesnā€™t have), then arrival, approach, checking fuel using what simbrief tells me and loading up, and finally setting alts. I find that usually takes ~40mins for me

Before spawning, I usually check (FR24) the gate of the VA plane Iā€™m using. If I canā€™t find it easily, I donā€™t spend too long to do it and just do my best to pick the most realistic gate possible.

I also sort Simbrief before or after spawning, while the ground services are all connected.

I take note of the speeds that SB gives.

Then I replace the procedures that SB gives since the descent is too steep most of the time. Then Iā€™ll replace it with the ones published in-game with the gameā€™s altitude restrictions.

I set my A/P to my initial cruising altitude.

I delete all the altitudes outside of the procedures except for the step climbs.

And I guess thatā€™s it. Disconnect ground services and start/ask for pushback.

Like others have said, I tend to simulate boarding, or at the very least go over departure and arrival charts, as well as modify my sim brief flight plan as needed.

I also find it enjoyable to watch the traffic if itā€™s a busy airport.

If Iā€™m not flying I usually try to stay parked at a military base. I figure it adds a little realism as planes fly overheadā€¦.

Please tell me youā€™re joking

No. Iā€™m not joking.

Thatā€™s pretty cool realism ngl but what if you donā€™t have time for that?

Then I do a shorter flight so I have time ;)

I thought I was the only one who did this lol, good to know there are fellow realism purists

Usually the FPL and everything only takes me 5 minutes, but I like to be realistic so Iā€™m at the gate for 30-60 minutes depending on the aircraft.

Hereā€™s what Iā€™m doing:

  1. Activate cargo and Catering
  2. battery on
  3. APU Start
  4. Nav lights on
  5. Auto brakes max (for possible take off abort)
  6. Set autopilot altitude to initial climb altitude (take infos from Navigraph)
  7. Set Autopilot Speed to Vr so Iā€™ve got a visual indicator on my display or HUD when to pull up. If Iā€™m using IF assist, he tells me the numbers. Then I set AP Speed to V2+15 to have my initial climb speed prepared. Thatā€™s what I like most. Important: I donā€™t activate it!
  8. Set AP Heading to Runway heading for departure (even if Iā€™m mostly activate LNAV after Take off)
  9. Load SimBrief Flightplan
  10. Check SimBrief flightplan for false waypoints/SIDs/Stars.
  11. Check final altitudes
  12. On short flights I choose final approach routes already at start
  13. Delete all altitudes after final except the last altitude before glide slope for a smooth VNAV
  14. If flightplan is ready I disconnect Passenger Bridge, Cargo and Catering
  15. Activate Beacon lights
  16. Announce taxi on radio or request Pushback on ATC
  17. Starting pushback
  18. After crossing red or white line I startup engines one by one
  19. Than taxi or request taxiing

I think thatā€™s it. Hopefully didnā€™t forget anything. SimBrief always gave me a really good amount of fuel with enough block fuel for an alternate airport. So I trust it at least. On long haul it can sometimes be red at and long after the beginning. But SB also respects future wind directions and so it always turns out pretty good for me.

I never looked at the time but I guess, in the end, this all just took 10 min max. Yes, you can simulate a longer preparation. For example, IF Iā€™m in the mood, I use one of the exterior drones to simulate me as a captain walk from outside the plane, checking gear and wings and so on and walk up to the flight deck, call me a nerd šŸ¤£
