What is a tracking thread for could I make one?

There are a couple different types. The main one is an ATC tracking thread. If you control on training server Expert server as well?, you can create a topic on the forum where you can let people know that you have opened as ATC so they can come and fly to that airport to give you practice.
For example, below is the one I used to use ages ago.
