I applied to IFATC, and I am preparing for my written test. If I pass it, I’ll open up a tracking thread to practice with people. For this, I’m curious what some good airports are for pattern work etc…the exam stuff. Any recommendations? TIA and have a great weekend!
I’d recommend these few - all of which are used in actual IFATC Training sessions. These airports have smaller airports nearby for pilots to spawn in and call for inbounds/transitions quicker. They also vary in elevation to test your transition altitudes. All the best for your written test :)
I don’t know how much this would help as I’m not an ATC specialist by any means, but I like the variety of Schiphol and the non-parallel runways of Kloten. Could be a challenge to practice/train on maybe? I may be way off but it seems not so easy to control these airports as opposed to airports with parallel runways 🤨
Edit: Ok, seeing that there are two IFATCs posting before me you can completely disregard my suggestions as mine are way off target haha
I guess there are a lot of Airports for Training. Any parallel airports are great for training. I personally like EDDB, EDDP, EDDM and EDDL. They’re amazing for training. And because they’re close to EGLL, which is nearly always in use on Training Server, you might even get some good inbounds. 😌
Thank you for your suggestions! I will try them out. And thanks for wishing me luck, I did the practice test and scored a consistent 87-ish percent on multiple tries, but I’m aiming for 100. Only the best is good enough for me!
