What altitude applies?

Hi everyone,

I know that when taking off I turn off the landing lights at 10,000 feet and turn them on during approach below 10,000ft.

Is the altitude calculated by AGL of the airport, the current area or MSL?

Thanks.

AGL, so 10,000ft above the airport. But the speed limit applies for 10,000 MSL.
KDEN for example is 5429ft but i’d turn my landing lights on at 16,000ft AGL and slow down around that Altitude as well.

If i messed up AGL/MSL sorry that’s why i added an example

AGL applies here too. An example would be SKBO. It’s 8300 feet AMSL. Please don’t try to approach this airport at 300 knots while you’re at 16,000 AMSL.
