WestJet Airlines, the second largest carrier in Canada has announced a new transatlantic destination. Since the world is starting to recover from the pandemic, the online has begun receiving the final few 787‘s that were on order over the past few years.

Starting in July, they will re-launch flights from Toronto to London Gatwick and re-launch flights from Calgary to London Gatwick 2x and 3x weekly.

“We are committed to putting international investments in place, as leaders of the travel and tourism industry, to support a safe restart to international travel and further Canada’s economic recovery,”
WestJet CCO - John Weatherill

Also starting June 14, they will inaugurate flights from Calgary to Amsterdam. These flights will be seasonal, however, only running from mid June until November 1. This flight will also be operated with the dreamliner.

I’m interested on the Calgary to Amsterdam as that poses a challenge to KLM, who have already operated the route with many of their larger aircraft (777s, 787s and A330s). Cant wait for the beautiful WestJet to return full force back to Gatwick though for sure!

But the won’t relaunch flights to TXKF yet even though Air Canada isn’t doing the flight so they would be uncontested. Huh.
