A Western global flying to Chicago experienced a engine fire on number 2 when descending through 8,000 feet. The aircraft had a safe landing on runway 28R and was immediately greeted by emergency vehicles.

Why is it when an MD-11 has a problem, it’s 99% of the time an engine fire?

Most likely if the engine will be fixed or replaced. But can’t really speculate since I have not read the article. 👍

United 232 was a completely different animal. A hard landing is not bad, unless in the extream, which United 232 was, but for very diffrent reasons…
