I think it was really due to color, white is most reflective color which helps keep heat down. That’s why Air France and British Airways had white livery on Concorde. Pepsi Blue is dark color which is closer to black than white so it will absorb lot of heat from sun.

It could still go supersonic, but at lower speed limit to keep heat down.
