I heard a com with the name of “Istanbul International Traffic” which i assumed was an aircraft first, but at the time it was only three aircraft at the airport me, turkish and Emirates guy. But then it said Istanbul Airport International Traffic is abiut 912 nm away from the airport and I knew we do not have any callsign by that name. So it waa just a rare encounter!

Hello it’s known issue (in IFATC team. Probably Staffs are informed about it.)

Aha ok! Glad its reported tho! Thanks for the heads up! 🙌

If pilot didn’t tune out of unicorn (or change the frequency) can do that

Wow okay but the normal distance to a unicom in the sim is 27.8 nm, so how is it possible to tune in that FAR away

People sometimes don’t tune out of Unicom after departure. There is no automatic tuning out of a Unicom frequency once it’s out of range in IF, so pilots who have departed and have forgotten to tune out can still send messages to the Unicom they were last tuned to.

It’s not that they can tune in from > 27NM away, it’s that they haven’t tuned out after departure.

This distance is for connecting to unicom frequency probably. Don’t know the number but if you stayed in any frequency you can send messages from anywhere you want but mostly we won’t prefer to do it :)

(That’s what Alex said lol)

Ok đź‘Ť. But how is the name of the guy/thing broadcasting the message have thr ssme exact name as the name of the unicom frequency? This is the part that made me chuckle

It’s known internally and being investigated
