Weird a388

ok I haven’t seen this talked about before, but I’ve been having issues with the a388 and I’m wondering if I’m the only one with this problem. Basically, after a medium/long-haul flight using autopilot, the aircraft’s controls break after disengaging the autopilot on final which leads to pitch up/down and yaw left/right becoming very difficult to control (the former being the bigger problem), sometimes unresponsive to the point where it’s impossible to land the aircraft safely…so I just close the game. It has happened twice now, only with the a388. I fly other aircraft such as the 748 on 15hr+ long hauls and I never encounter any problems.
I can share the most recent replay if needed. and before anyone asks, yes, I calibrate..

That’s very strange indeed. You should probably move this to Support so that it gets the attention it deserves. A replay would probably be helpful too, along with your device info.

Have you tried any short haul flights with it? And is this every time, or only two out of many instances of flying the A380 for long hauls? I don’t really ever fly the A380, but I’ll see if I can replicate it when I get the chance!

What is your usual trim when you are on approach in the A388?

You could try recalibrating just before turning off AP button. And yes good amount of trim is also a good idea

Varies with aircraft load. I can tell the difference between trim issue and proper unresponsive controls, so it’s not a problem with trim.

Calibration is not an issue. Trim isn’t either. The A388 is the first aircraft I flew on IF back when I first started playing and I probably have well over 200 hours on her alone

I would suggest you do flight resume right before descending below 28,000 feet cause it happens to me to when flying the A380, A350 or 777 when the device gets hot it hard to control. I’d suggest doing that as it lets the device cool down

(share my infinite flight isn’t working for some reason)

it happens at the very end
If it can’t be replicated by anyone, it must be an issue on my end. When flying long haul I use splitscreen a lot which might affect the calibration, and recalibrating doesn’t fix it. I already recalibrated here multiple times, and I was already flying manually with the exception of A/T and VNAV. yaw was very sluggish, pitch even more so after I disengaged the AP completely. however, this has exclusively happened with the A388, not with any other aircraft, so you must understand my frustration here ;-;

thanks, I’ll definitely try this next time I fly long haul with the A388 c:

Fair enough, The only other thing I can think off is if you have Anti-aliasing on. When I have it on I have control problems too. But its more like a massive lag.

Going out on a limb here… everything you described about the plane feeling sluggish is normal. In terms of roll, it’s not supposed to snap in a turn like a 737 - it’s heavy. The plane is also noticeably nose-heavy, but that was an actual issue that we brought up during testing. It just hasn’t been addressed yet. Yaw shouldn’t really be an issue though - the rudder is very effective, though it may take a tiny bit more time by a few milliseconds’ worth for you to notice it do something. When it does do something, it’s noticeable.

The A380 you flew when you first started out (assuming it was before the rework) is nowhere near the same as the post-rework A380. Your replay link is also broken, so I can’t give you more info until you fix it.

The replay isn’t working

Also maybe turn the device off at around 1,000 feet and let the IPad cool for 5-10 minutes it works too. Warning: it disconnects from the server 10% of the time but it mostly works

I will try and replicate the issue with the A380 this is interesting becasue i havent experienced issues with the A380 tho.

@ToasterStroodie @Ryan_and_Riona

I’ve only ever flown the post-rework A388
