Waypoint for iOS — big update is live on the App Store :mobile_phone:

The latest Waypoint app update just cleared review and is rolling out now. Make sure you’re on the newest version, then:

:green_circle: Redesigned Live Activities
Your flight’s progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island got a full redesign — departure and arrival airports with an aircraft that fills up as your flight goes on, plus the city names under the codes.

And the big one: Live Activities can now start by themselves. Enable “Live flight” once and, as soon as your next flight begins to move, it appears on your Lock Screen automatically — no need to open the app first.

:light_bulb: One-time setup: the auto-start needs iPhone on iOS 17.2 or later, and you’ll need to toggle the “Live flight” switch off and back on once so it can register. After that it’s fully automatic.

:house: Home Screen widgets

  • New light and system appearances — the widget can finally match your Home Screen instead of always being dark.
  • Widgets now use your preferred units (altitude, speed, distance) from the app.

:rocket: A proper launch screen
Opening the app now greets you with a clean, branded start screen — the Waypoint wordmark over an aircraft silhouette — that fades away the instant the live map is ready. No extra wait, just a nicer first impression.

Enjoying Waypoint? A quick favour :glowing_star:

Waypoint is completely free — no ads, no account required. The single best way to help it grow is a rating on the App Store.

If the app has been useful to you, a quick :star::star::star::star::star: review takes about ten seconds and genuinely boosts our visibility, so more Infinite Flight pilots can discover it.

Waypoint — three new home-screen widgets, now on iOS :mobile_phone_with_arrow:

There are now three new ones — all free, all on your home screen:

:airplane: Airport widget — pick any airport (ICAO) and see its inbounds, aircraft on the ground and active ATC at a glance, with the airport photo as the backdrop.

:globe_with_meridians: Server status widgetflights and controllers per server (Expert / Training / Casual). No setup at all — add it and it just works.

:small_airplane: Virtual airline widget — pick your VA and get who’s flying right now plus the top flights, in your VA’s own logo and colour.

All of them come in small and medium, follow light / dark / system, and update quietly in the background. They pull straight from Waypoint, so there’s nothing to log in to.

To add one: long-press your home screen → + → search Waypoint → pick the widget → long-press it afterwards to choose the airport / server / VA.

Needs iOS 17

Waypoint — iOS Lock Screen Widgets :mobile_phone:

Waypoint lives on your iPhone Lock Screen now. Touch and hold the Lock Screen → Customise → add widgets above or below the clock, and you’ll find a set of Waypoint ones — glanceable, always on, and refreshing on their own.

:airplane: Live flight
A little aeroplane gauge that fills as your flight progresses, with the percentage — or, in the second variant, the time remaining — shown right in the ring. Pick the wider rectangular style instead and it reads your callsign, your route and how far you have left. It follows whatever you’re flying and switches by itself as you take off, taxi and park.

:airplane_departure: Home airport
Pin an ICAO in the widget’s settings and keep an eye on any field from the Lock Screen — how many aircraft are inbound and how many ATC positions are open right now.

:satellite_antenna: Network pulse
A tiny live count of how busy the Expert Server is — aircraft airborne and controllers online — without ever unlocking your phone.

They sit right alongside the Home Screen widgets and the live-flight Live Activity that were already there, so you can build whatever glance suits you best.

Available now on the Waypoint iOS app.

Hi there! Absolutely loving this tracker—hands-down the best available for IF.

Is there an appropriate way to report bugs? Best to report on the forum or is there a different preferred format?

Thank you so much!

You can report them on the forum or on discord:

Sounds great, thanks for the reply!

Since I’m here, I’ll share something I noticed while using both the website and app. Looks like the map is struggling to track my flightpath, as seen by the disjoint flightpath lines.

For context, I was flying to KEWR, but modified my flight plan and diverted to KIAD—after the update to the flight plan, the tracker was having trouble following my path.
