A pilot of a small Cessna 206 had departed Brookhaven airfield in New York had to make an emergency landing on the highway. The cause and reason is unknown but the pilot is being praised for a safe landing with no damage and no injuries. If anyone hears of why the plane failed let me know I’d like to know the reason please have proof of your findings. Discuss below and watch the video
Seen a lot of these recently. Hopefully everybody is ok and the highway is clear.
Glad everyone is okay, did the police know or did he just get pulled over by a cop as soon as he landed
The video looked like it shocked the cop. I’d say that officer had no clue by the judging of his delay in turning his lights on. But who knows. @Kevin_Potthast it looked like everyone was good to go and at the bottom of the article there was a photo with a pickup and tow bar attached to the plane. I’d say 90% of the traffic would of been rubbernecking.
I am just amazed that that pilot didn’t hit any cars
Highways are just really long runways, right?
Jokes aside, great job by the pilot.
It landed on sunrise highway…I’ve been on this road many times, and it’s not that far from where I live. It’s amazing that he was able to sucessfully land it on the roadway.
Did you notice not just land but put it down before a highway sign and an and that bridge that he just coasted under. Impressive by the pilot.
One of my A&P professors liked to say, “I fly IFR, I fly roads”. I always thought that was funny but hey, if something goes wrong, better to land on a road than a field somewhere and have no idea what the conditions on the ground could be.
Glad everyone is ok and this story had a happy ending! Although I can’t help but wonder what went wrong with the plane…
I live pretty close to there, this stuff happens a lot they should rename it the Sunrise Landing Strip 😂
But that’s really impressive by the pilot, cleared signs and an overpass!
That is actually so awesome! I wonder what the officer was thinking.
With little moving cars. +10 Points if you hit one.
Glad no one was hurt.
This was incredible. Kudos to the pilot for a safe landing.
