VNAV Functionality

Hi Guys,

Just wondering why Infinite Flights VNAV only works on decent, and doesn’t manage speed?

Do you plan to release this one day?

Hello! Currently VNAV does not support climb, and the speed you would manage yourself. I believe some aircraft don’t have managed airspeeds (like the CRJ series). I have not heard of the devs adding it, but they may very likely add it next update or the one after that.

Quick question:

Where’d that info come from??

Lack of FMS means there’s no “managed” mode that is tightly integrated with the FMS to handle speed automatically during climbs, descents, and approaches, but the system relies on the flight plan and FMS-calculated constraints to function. Same functionality for boeing aircraft’s as well but it’s called vnav I guess.

It has been discussed between users a lot, but as I said, I’m not certain at all

Thanks a lot guys!

Hi, the key added function here would be autopilot pitch control to protect forward speed, at the expense of maintaining flight path (where necessary).

So, if you are too high on descent, AP would prioritize adjusting your pitch to maintain IAS, sacrificing your descent path.

On climb AP would also adjust pitch to maintain IAS, leveling off at some point either set by the pilot or where IAS is at the edge of being sustained at a given level.

See this topic for example:
