There needs to be an update to the autopilot. Specifically VNAV whilst climbing and the unrealistic bank angles whilst in cruise. The latter has been an issue since 2017… 7 years ago.

It’s been 4 years since VNAV was released, but the climb function hasn’t been added yet.
Developers, we’re waiting!

The reason it’s VNAV is because it’s VERTICAL navigation. Doesn’t just mean going down, means going up too :D

Hello everyone,
So my question is when do we get stepclimbs VNAV for climbing.
Now when I do long hauls I have to keep setting alarms to do my stepclimbs. Sometimes i skip some stepclimbs because I don’t wanna get up but it messes up my fuel and weight and sometimes I barely make it because of that. A lot of times I have like 4 stepclimbs but I can’t do them all because I also wanna sleep but i kinda have no choice because otherwise I won’t make it. And yea you can say add more fuel so you make it but then it’s not fun anymore and it takes the realism away. I also make flight plans from simbrief and they always include stepclimbs. ITS BEEN 4 YEARS
It would be great if we could have VNAV in climbing that would add a little bit more realisme into the game and it would also be a lot easier with long hauls.

In the meantime you can use IF Assistant for stepclimbs

wait what you can do that?
My idea to avoid problems with ATC and so on.
Possibility of activate VNAV for:
- for CLIMB and DESCENT
but ALSO,
- DESCENT only
AND
- CLIMB only.
This could avoid problems with LVL1 violations, ATC while you’re asleep or away.
What do you think?

Have your tried contacting the developer of IF assistant to resolve the issue?
True. It’s very inconvenient during step climb to keep changing altitudes again. And if your flight plan has climb on middle of the route, get ready to set alarms or forget climb altogether.

Easier to turn off the Plan Step Climbs in Simbrief if you don’t think you’ll make them all. You’ll definitely carry more fuel, but dodge all the difficulty. And even get the AP+ option given a constant cruise altitude.
Vnav should be split into sub options with cruise mode and climb/descent.
