Soaring the Canadian skies since 2017.

Welcome to our brand new main thread. We’ve taken some time to improve what we post on the Infinite Flight Community, to make sure that all our threads and posts remain visually aesthetic and convey information clearly. So, who are we? Founded all the way back in November of 2017, VirtualPorter is an Infinite Flight virtual airline based around Porter Airlines, a small Canadian regional carrier operating within Eastern Canada and parts of the Eastern U.S. Our operations within the VA is from the view of a pilot, not the passenger. With this in mind, we want to offer our pilots the best resources for flight available in a VA. Our vision is simple: to be a laid back virtual organisation with a vibrant community centred around our real life counterpart. We are an IFVARB certified VA.

Our stunning website:

One of the things that our organisation truly prides itself upon (other than the Q400) is the website. Here is where all our VA details are located, as well as our flight schedules, tutorial videos, reward programmes, pilot roster and more! The site has been updated numerous times throughout the 2 years we’ve been operating to ensure that it always meets the standards of our members, our airline and that it remains user friendly. All banners and text formatting are checked rigorously to iron out even the smallest of inconsistencies. Below we have a sneak peek of what it looks like on your devices!

The magnificent and elegant Dash-8 Q400:

We operate only one aircraft variant in our fleet…a true beast, many pilots would call it, the Dash-8 Q400 is a Canadian turboprop airliner designed and developed by Bombardier Aerospace (now being produced by De Havilland Canada). First introduced in 1999, Bombardier has since then sold over 300 ‘-400’ variants. Capable of superb fuel efficiency, quiet comfort and low operational costs, the Q400 is literally the powerhouse of Porter Airlines. Although it is quite underrated, nobody can deny its beauty and reputation. This aircraft is what our virtual organisation is so proud of, and is also what we revolve around. All Porter flights are operated by the Q400. There are currently 29 Q400s in the actual Porter Airlines fleet, as of June 2019. Our staff team have worked tirelessly to create a PDF featuring Q400 SOPs, speed tables and flight profiles, all based on a combination of real world and flight sim data tailored for the Infinite Flight mobile simulator. However, it is Discord exclusive and only accessible by our members. If you are keen on flying this aircraft out of our airports as realistically as you possibly can, join our VA and engage in a community that are full of Q400 enthusiasts!

PDplus and PDgold:

Apart from flying, we also offer our pilots two exclusive and unique reward programmes! For each flight you log in VirtualPorter, you earn 1 PDplus point - these points can be used to purchase the seasonal PDplus pass, where members can rank up and earn special rewards. PDgold on the other hand, is our premier rewards programme. PDgold points can only be earned through completing offers and attending our Porter Escapes or Porter Xplorer events. With these points, our members can purchase special rank badge designs and nicknames to be displayed on their pilot roster profile! There’s more than just that however - head onto our website (or click here) to see what we’re really talking about.

Our VA/VO affiliates:

In order to mimic our real life counterpart’s operations as much as we possibly can while also ensuring that our members have a diverse fleet of aircraft available right at their hands, we currently have agreements with El Al Virtual and Singapore Virtual! This means that our pilots are presented with the opportunity to fly from Toronto to Newark, and from there swiftly connect to Southeast Asia via the A359 or the Middle East using the B789/B772. However, our latest community update 3.01 means that all codeshare/interline flights require a certain number of PDplus points to be flown and approved. The longer the journey, the more points needed. We also have multiple codeshare route agreements with IndiGo Virtual, (our largest partnership) which means our pilots can now connect via Singapore to many more regions in South Asia with the A320. As we are only a virtual airline and not 100% based on Porter, we are always open to partnerships with other virtual airlines and organisations. Click here for a more detailed summary of the VAs and VOs we have agreements with.

Why choose us?

After all, it’s time to put your flying hours to use. And what better choice than to join VirtualPorter, where you can enjoy a degree of realism along with various activities and fun! We are the perfect choice for anybody seeking a more relaxed virtual airline experience or anybody that has an interest in the Q400. If you choose to become a part of VirtualPorter, you will be entitled to various events and community activities that take place here. You will also be presented with the opportunity to get to know the Q400 better, all while having a supportive, professional and dedicated administrative team working hard to ensure that we continue to thrive. In the VA, we have a strong emphasis on community bonding - whether that will be through healthy competition, voice chats and so on. We do not (and will never) discriminate anyone based on their race, religion, sexuality, etc.

We are VirtualPorter. That means we are unaffiliated with the real world organisation. Visit flyporter.com for the real world airline.

Brand new thread design!

As most of you would have noticed already, we’ve just uploaded our refreshed main thread as part of our upcoming 3.02 VirtualPorter community update! We felt that the previous version was a little too bland, so we decided to spice things up a little more. Just a quick note, our thread would look best if viewed on either a laptop or tablet (mobile devices distort the designs in strange ways unfortunately). Anyways, what’s in store for our next update? Our latest update will introduce stylish thread designs for both the main thread and event thread. This makes it much more eye appealing, and our external community platforms are easier to access (as they’re displayed in every post). We also had some very minor changes within our Discord server and website. Secondly, we’re working on our GA detachment, which we will name VIPorter (after the real life Porter frequent flyer program). Those who follow our Instagram would have already seen a sneak peek of the banner! Our members will be able to log pattern work and general aviation flying as legitimate hours for our VA once they reach a certain rank, with some slight restrictions in place. Lastly, we still have the Q400 handbook and VA tutorial videos in progress! The dates for the release of both are still unknown, but we promise that the handbook and videos won’t disappoint. If you haven’t watched our brand new trailer by @InfiniteFlightGuyYT yet, go and watch it now!

A whole bunch of announcements…

To start us off in today’s major update post on the IFC, we’d like to wish all Canadians (and everyone celebrating) a very happy Canada Day! As a result, ACVA, WSVG and VirtualPorter have teamed up to host a joint fly-out event from the nation’s capital, Ottawa. Show your love and support for Porter by signing up right here. Only a couple of gates remain! Onto the big news for our virtual airline. Our members would have already been informed of this in our Discord server, but we are rolling our community 3.02 update! What does this new update bring? Along with multiple website brush-ups and fixes, 3.02 also introduces the brand new VIPorter programme. This programme allows our pilots to log general aviation flights from anywhere in the world once they reach the rank of Captain (300 hours). However, there are flight hour limitations in place weekly to ensure that the system is not abused. If you’re looking to supplement your Q400 and codeshare flights with even more hours, look no further! Pattern work, visual flights and short hops can all be verified. Visit our website to learn more. Our rank structure page has been updated slightly so that members can view what programmes each rank unlocks. Secondly, we now have a page where members can access ALL of our #dash magazines, even from the summer of 2018! This is the go to page for our members who have been in the VA since the start, if you’re feeling nostalgic. Simply head over to the ‘Our magazines’ page under the ‘Resources’ section of our website. Meanwhile on the Discord server, we’ve found a way to display all the awards our members earn on their profile! Not only will they spice up your pilot roster - you’ll look more equipped inside the VA too. The official changelog PDF of the 3.02 update will be completed within the next few days and available on the ‘About us’ page. In an unlikely partnership, VirtualPorter and IndiGo Virtual have come to agreements on multiple codeshare routes for our respective VAs, opening up new windows of opportunities for both of us and also offering our members a more diverse fleet and route network! With this, our members can now fly to Delhi, Kathmandu, Kochi, Mumbai, Ho Chi Min City, Malé and Kolkata in the A320, while still earning hours as usual. But this is unrealistic, why would the VA do this? Although we want to stick to our values as much as we possibly can, in the end we are only a virtual organisation unaffiliated with the real Porter. That means we aren’t restricted to what the real Porter does - we can also change things to go our way. The 6E flight schedules will be arriving on our website very shortly as well, so be ready for that. We are very excited see where this partnership will be headed, and we hope the IndiGo members enjoy the Q400 too!
