Virtual airlines

When I’m flying online I always see people in groups called that are virtual airlines(example delta virtual airline) what are they are they like real airlines I just would like to know more about them

Hi,

First of all, welcome to the IFC - I hope you enjoy your time here :)

With virtual airlines they are groups of Infinite Flight pilots flying as part of a group. Not really sure how to explain it well 😂

You can read more here:

Taken from the website:

A virtual organization (VO) is a dedicated hobby organization that uses the Infinite Flight Simulator to model the real-world operations of an airline or group. Alternatively, the group may be an original one. This can include “ground school” training programs, event groups, flying clubs, and ATC groups as well as training flights in order for the VA to help provide further experience as well as to extend the skills of their members. Groups of any sort that wish to utilise the VA category must be certified regardless.

Hello @Airplaneking08,

Welcome to the IFC. Adding on to what @BennyBoy_Alpha said, you can go to the #live:va category and find many topics about virtual airlines. This thread I have linked below can also be used for questions you may have. If you need any help or have any questions about anything else around here, you can always PM a member of the community. See you around!

A Virtual Airline, also referred to as a VA, is a group of pilots and staff, typically mimicking the operations of a real-world counterpart airline or organization. Virtual Airlines and organizations are a great way to connect with more people, try new things, and get a taste of the airline industry realistically through Infinite Flight. A typical VA/VO will have a thread here on the IFC where you can find information about them, such as who they are, what they do, and how to apply.

Hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you have any more questions and I’ll do my best to be of assistance.

Welcome aboard!

Virtual airlines (VAs) are groups of users that are running an “airline” based off of a real one. Users in the VAs can fly real routes paired with the aircraft that flies them in real life.
They can then log the flight and gain hours, which if you get enough hours you can unlock a new rank.
The ranking systems most VAs use give you some small regional aircraft, then as you rank up you can unlock larger aircraft, and in turn the routes they fly on.
Some VAs will use a more realistic thing to where if you fly the route KJFK-KSFO, and then you want to fly from KJFK-KDFW, you’ll need to fly back to KJFK first.
They’ll also hold their own internal events, as well as “sponsoring” IFC events.
Now when you’re not flying a route for the VA, you can simply do what you want in Infinite Flight.

So VAs are kind of a “campaign mode” way to fly in IF
