Ok, so what are virtual airlines, how much commitment is there and how serious is it? I just want to do something cool, but does not require you to go to every event.
There’s no real stereotype for Virtual Airlines, but in essence they are virtual versions of Airlines where pilots can log hours and rank up.
If you’re a pilot, it depends on the VA. Some have more strict activity requirements than others. But if you keep to 1 flight per week you should be good.
Again, it depends on the airline, some (like the Virgin Virtual Group) are quite laid back, other (like the Qantas Virtual Group) are more serious. It’s all about picking a VA that works for you.
No VA will make you attend every event. But if you’re looking for some fun and extra realism, VAs are definitely the way to go.
To add on, here’s the Virtual Airline Database. Feel free to peruse through this database and to choose a VA that’s right for you :)
VA’s are a great addition to the community.
You have big ones and small, ones based off real airlines and ones made up, civilian ones and military ones. The list could go on.
If you are worried about commitment, DM the representative listed in the Database and they will be more than happy to let you know of the rules however all VA’s need you to be active to an extent.
