Virtual Airlines (VA's)

VAs are what you make of them and each one is run slightly different and range from those which are very loosely organised (you can fly any plane to any destination) to others which are run to emulate more like their real life counterparts. Personally I like to fly for VA which is based on a real airline and trys to fly same / similar routes. It gives a dimension of realism to the Sim, is given a list of routes / flight numbers for a certain aircraft.

@QantasVirtualAirways has given a good list of VAs with different back ground, suggest you check them out and see which of them you fancy! VAs are not for everybody, some people like to fly whatever they fancy…which you still can do with most VAs anyway!

Happy Landings!

OK… I hope this isn’t necroposting. How do you join a VA? Do you just fly the routes? Do you contact the CEO/ Person in charge?

Go to their website, then click in the messages or join us tab. Then just fill in the info and hopefully they’ll accept your application :) Some VAs require a certain grade etc. and some of them are more professional, but I suggest that you wait until global before joining a VA. I think that there will be a ‘VA Boom’ with global. In addition, you can pick based on countries etc. it’s your choice anyway.

And then you just start flying? Every time you fly you have to notify the airline? I’m sorry for the ignorance

So if they accept your application, then I guess you can start flying. Some airlines require you to start on a specific aircraft and work your way up to bigger ones. A good example is Qantas Group Virtual. Whenever you fly, you have to file a PIREP which contains all the info about your flight, like cruising altitude, aircraft, callsign, V/S etc. But not all airlines have this, some you can just fly without having to note whenever you fly. You’re not being ignorant, this is one of my favorite quotes; ‘a man who asks a question is a fool for a minute, but a man who does not ask is a fool for life’ -Confiucius

Here’s a list of the most active VA’s on the community

Ok… And, every time you fly live do you have to fly for your VA? Or if, for example, I’m in Hello airlines VA(it’s an example), if I want to fly as Hello airlines, does it have to be for the Va? Can you exit your VA at any time?

It is your choice when you want to fly for the VA, but some airlines require a certain amount of flights a month. Also, most VAs require you to fly in the VA’s livery and callsign. You can exit whenever you want I’m pretty sure for most. For example I’m in Qantas VA but I don’t always fly for Qantas. Some VAs like Easyjet don’t even require live.

Ok! (I know I am bombarding you with questions, sorry🙁) It is for pure realism right? And if you don’t comply with their requirements, you can’t fly for them anymore?

It’s pure realism, they aren’t involved in any way with the real airline. Again, it depends on the airline. You might receive a warning and then you have to quit. I’m not sure since it has never happened to me. It’s fine, don’t forget:

@nicochile2 VA’s have different focus for example Qantas VA tries to be as much professional and realistic as possible, but there’s also some VA’s that are just for fun like Banter VA, but there’s also VA’s that try to be in the middle of fun and realistic for example Big Bear VA.
It’s your choice you can be in whatever VA you want, after all they are the ones who are trying to get you to join.

I don’t want to recommend my own VA, so I will recommend that you join IFES they are the most active group in the community

Yeah, but I don’t like to escort. Plus, I don’t like fighter jets that much

If you are not sure which VA to join then check out the VA data base ( link above) this has all the airlines which are currently active so that you can check them all out, see what their requirements are and join the one that appeals to you most!

Yes, I know. In fact over the last 24h I have looked at about 10 VAs!
