Got inspired by @Mort a day or so ago to do the reverse version of his flight from Hobart, the capital of the Australian island state of Tasmania, to Brisbane, capital of the state of Queensland and the home of Virgin Australia, the country’s largest domestic airline by passenger market share.

At Gate 1 for our flight from Tassie to Brissie. Our aircraft is named Kirra Beach for the popular tourist destination in Virgin Australia’s home state of Queensland.
Turning around for takeoff after a quick backtaxi to the end of the runway
Taking off from Hobart. See ya, Tasmania!
HBA looking really small during our climbout
Flying across the Bass Strait, separating Tasmania from the rest of Australia
In cruise over Canberra, Australia’s capital. It’s not Sydney, as many Sydneysiders would have you believe, nor is it Melbourne, despite Melburnian protests to the contrary. Canberra is pretty much an enclave known as the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), located in the middle of New South Wales.
Descent over far northern New South Wales
Arriving in the late afternoon in Brisbane
Taxiing across Dryandra Road
Deplaned at Gate 45 at BNE. Everyone’s getting off the plane, but some are re-boarding for a later flight this evening to Darwin.
