Hey guys,
Many of you may (or may not have) heard of the T.V. documentary, Worst Place To be a Pilot. I personally find it to be one of the more realistic programs on airlines and pilots. It gives a first hand look at the struggles Susi Air (official)Other website Wiki pilots go through each and every day. Being landing on 500 ft if that grass strips into cannibalistic tribe camps, flying through dangerous and mountainous terrain, etc. From what I’ve seen here, most of you guys have seen all or most of the show, but those who haven’t can watch all the episodes I’ve found.
MaxSez: Have watched this series repeatedly. Know the star of the show the “Porter”, it’s is a reliable old friend from back in the day. She’s a lady. Used to do courier run in this brute , Danang-NKP, once every few weeks for a couple of months. Pigs/chickens & rice were the staple cargo. The Yard villages we stoped at in the Animites en-route were right out of this Series almost, the village folk we met were much more colorful and augmented there bows & arrows with AK-47’s. To be young again, memories like theses never fade.
Glad you liked it Max. I believe we talked about the show once before, its a shame you can’t find episode 5+. The Pilatus Porter looks like a very reliable aircraft, good ground maneuvering, not to mention her physical beauty! etc. Blue Skies!
We’ve got to talk about the villages you flew into some time!
The Turbo Porter is still active in the Swiss Air Force as flight support, recognition and parachute drops. She can even land (STOL) in the Pilatus factory yard in Stans.
I flew on her for my first and only parachute jump, with 45 sec free fall.
Beautiful experience, btw.
Blue skies
