Recorded from 0300Z to 0500Z on 10th October 2024, when Tampa International Airport was bursting with activity on Expert Server due to Hurricane Milton!
Nearly 100 takeoffs and landings are in the video, many of whom are community members here. Each takeoff or landing is labelled with the callsign, username and aircraft type.
Please let me know if there is anything I can improve on, and if there’s something you particularly enjoyed/disliked. Thank you!
Did ATC that evening of the hurricane and it was one of the most fun sessions i’ve had in awhile. Knew pilots were there to face a challenge, was more relaxing than strict. Had my camera on the end of the runways to watch the landings.
The highlight was someone in a 172 trying to hold short of the runway but the winds kept lifting them off the ground.
Hey, thanks for doing ATC and glad you were having fun as well. I agree that lightening up a bit is the right thing to do - after all there is no playbook for realism in 80 knot wind gusts 😂
Cool vid. My hurricane hunters vo is based out of KBIX/KLAL so during a hurricane I’d also recommend KBIX as a spotting place, always filled with us c130s.
LOL I’m honored to finally be in one of these! The fact that my Southwest 737-8 was still holding on for dear life during auto-land just shows how insane the winds were. Fun times for sure but also very tough approach!
