Hello everyone!
This is my first topic in the community so please leave any feedback you have! ![]()
Some Background
This flight started as a DM between @Ravager41 and I, where we wanted to fly a group flight together as we ave in the past. I suggested the VHHH - KLAX flight, as that route was featured by our virtual airline at the time and I was trying to complete all the 777 routes that American Airlines flies. We then decided to make it a group flight, and got @clk and @Choq to join us on the journey.
Here is my spread sheet for all American Airline 777 flights, as per AAVA:
LA Fun Fact: This week LA is going to be hosting the World Series, which is the culmination of the baseball year. Also, LAX is the 5th busiest airport in the US and 11th in the world based on PAX.

Time for some photos>>>
Image 1: Waiting for PAX to board, at the Terminal 1 North gates. Don’t mind the Asiana aircraft, the plane taxied into the stand while we were already there.
Image 2: Getting ready for departure from runway 7R at Hong Kong. Our flight plan takes a right turn after takeoff, away from the beloved Kai Tak Airport
Image 3: “Flight attendants, prepare for takeoff”. This is the passenger view as we hold short of RWY 7R, waiting for the aircraft before us to start rolling. We also say goodbye to the rest of the crew, as we will keep a distance of 5-7 nm after takeoff, and will be landing at separate times.
Image 4: Takeoff from Hong Kong, with the sunset basking our aircraft. As we climb into sky, we marvel at the sheer power of the GE-90s. They are at less than 95% N1, even with load at 100%.
Image 5: Passing 6k, I turned on autopilot and marveled at the views around the aircraft. As we depart from the mountains of Hong Kong, we can see the old Kai Tak Airport to the left of our aircraft.
Image 6: Approaching LAX from the north, on the SADDE8 STAR. We are about to begin our turn into left downwind for RWY 24R
Image 7: On final for runway 24R, configured with flaps 30, hand flying the ILS approach down from 3000’.
Image 8: Evening arrival into LAX, a soft touchdown marks the culmination of our trans-pacific journey.
Image 9: A beautiful butter landing executed by @Ravager41, with the sunset basking the aircraft.
Image 10: A perfect flare executed by @Choq, leaving a trail of butter behind at LAX.
