About VFA-103
Strike Fighter Squadron 103, nicknamed “Jolly Rogers”, was established in 1952 with a variation of the Vought F4U Corsair. Since then, they have flown the F9F-6 Cougar, the F-8 Crusader, the F-4 Phantom II, and the F-14 Tomcat, until moving to their current aircraft, the F/A-18F Super Hornet. VFA-103 is part of Carrier Air Wing 7, based at Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia, USA. The Jolly Rogers have taken part in various military operations, including but not limited to; Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and operation Iraqi Freedom.
About The F/A-18F
The F/A-18F Super Hornet is a twin engine, multi-role, carrier capable, and supersonic capable aircraft, built by McDonnell Douglas, which entered service with the United States Navy in 1999, made to replace the F-14 Tomcat. Since then, more than 608 models have been built. The F variant of the F-18 is used by the United States Navy, Royal Australian Air Force, and Kuwait Air Force.
