Hello, IFC!
After finding myself in a dreadfully glum mood due to recent events, I decided to go spotting to cheer myself up. After a few minutes of walking and stopping at Burger King (hence the title), I had arrived at the heliport!
I went to LFPI - Issy Les Moulineaux Heliport.
The first session was a bit boring, I only saw 8 helicopters in an hour. In their defence it was Saturday at noon. Who flies at that time…
I came back today in the evening to hopefully catch all the millionaires of France leaving Paris for the week. It worked.
Here are my pictures of the sessions!
A flying camera on it’s way to circle Paris for 3 hours.
The Bouygues family (one of the richest in France)arriving in style .
A hand-modified helicopter. This helicopter has an interesting story. The pilot lost their legs a few years back and are now wheelchair bound. They were a pilot and didn’t want their passion to end, so they custom-built their helicopter to have accommodations such as wheelchair ramps in the doors and a hand-made yoke-stick thing system that allows them to control all the axes as well as the throttle and the lights with only their hands. Wow.
Following this is the beautiful Securite Civile going to pick up someone at a hospital in Chartres.
A Mont Blanc (HeliPass) helicopter lining up on the imaginary runway.
Another very rich set of individuals coming back from a golfing trip!
A private pea arriving from idk where because they forgot to turn on their transponder until they were halfway here.
(Strobe shot + hand wave)
The Mont Blanc (ex-SAMU) helicopter coming back after an hour long flight with an avgeek inside :P
The same helicopter taking off a half hour later.
Last but most, the Arnaud family (richest in France) going to Le Bourget. That’s a 15 seat helicopter with 2 people inside flying a distance of around than 10 miles. Nice for them, much much less for the environment.
Thanks guys, take the bus next time please.
Okay that’s it for today.
In case any minimods wanted to hop along and turn this topic into a train wreck...
I have received explicit permission to photograph the helicopters from:
The aerodrome supervisor
The pilots
The passengers
The ramp agents
I am only posting pictures of helicopters that gave me permission to be posted online. If I was told not to post a picture by any of the above people, I have refrained from posting it here and it is sitting in my collection on my hard drive.
As for the ramp access…
I was given permission in advance to access the ramp. I was wearing protective equipment and was clearly visible. I remained crouched when rotors were spinning and did not get any closer than 1.5 meters from any aircraft.
If you think I did something illegal, please contact me or send an official complaint to the DGAC. Have fun though, since their office is where I spotted from :)
Thank you for looking at these pictures!
See you next time!
