Veering to the Left on Takeoff

I hope you all can help me with this because it is very annoying. This morning I went to do some pattern work in the A388 at YSSY. I pushed back, taxied and lined up ok, but as I throttled up to take off, I started rolling to the right. I was at normal weight, but couldn’t rotate until precisely 230 knots. After I got airborne and enabled HDG, everything went away. Here is some possibly useful info:

  • iPad Mini 2
  • iOS 11.4
  • I was using IFJoy by @Sushruth
  • My WiFi was at full bars and quite fast
  • I have restated my device, force quit all other apps, and restarted IF. I have not done a reinstall as of yet.
  • IFJoy was running on my Samsung Galaxy S5 with the Lollipop OS (unsure which version).

Hope you can help!

@schyllberg so I know for future reference, why does this topic belong in #thirdparty ? I added the fact that I was using IFjoy in there because I thought it may be the cause, but I don’t think it’s likely.

As the app are controlling the yoke, it’s most likely the cause. Unless you can reproduce it without using the app :)

Could be a simple calibration error too.

Will try to reproduce without IFJoy now.

Ok, I could reproduce it without IFJoy. Only difference was that this time I rolled to the right, but still veered left. Also, not a calibration error either, I made sure to calibrate perfectly.

Go to “Controls” in your settings and tap “Restore defaults”. Then try again :)

What about your wind settings? If so, rudder has to be used to counteract wind.

Wind is calm, will restore default settings now.

That worked. Thanks so much.
