Using community photos for the loading screen monthly

As you guys all know we recently had a loading screen change. What happens if FDS can get the community involved. Holding a contest monthly for the next loading screen photo. This can get the community involved a lot and the loading screens can get better. Thoughts?

I like the idea but the prize in my opinion is just winning the contest itself.

The idea is ok I suppose, unfortunately I don’t know what changing the screen monthly entails *Disclaimer I’m not a coder, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

So there would be a monthly thread, a submission and cutoff date, then votes tallied (a few days in advance) in order to post the winner, then someone from FDS would have to go take the time to change the screen and then in 20 some odd days do it all over again? No offense, but I’m not liking the chances.

I think the reward is actually fair… best photography should get the month, as there Is a lot of competition… also credit on the photo should be there aswell

Interesting idea!

I don’t think the month of free live is really necessary though… having bragging rights is plenty!

It would be cool if there was a voting feature where we could vote the photo we like similar to voting in features. The one issue is that voting would have to work on posts (if thats possible), as the forum would get clobbered with pictures entered into the contest. Unless there was a separate category for screenshot contest? Or the highest liked photo wins.

Haven’t thought of the implementation yet but I think a filter down from the mods to the final few then a pinned topic with a poll for us to vote for.

This is kinda a good example of the implementation idea from me

Did someone mentioned splash screen screenshot competition? That would be cool to see the communities best screenshot photos on a monthly basis.Liking that idea :-)You got my vote!

I wish i had a free vote to give to this feature request. Very good suggestion! Stating the name of the photographer for that month would be also very helpful.

I remember IFAE’s French dash 8’s with credits to Art M before. So yes this is a thing, don’t worry about the credits part ;)

After controlling the IFAE Qantas filling event. I feel like those belong on the loading screen and there are lots more photos like that. Giving this a bump

I just thought about this… this is a good idea and it would be great to have different loading screens from people on IFC. Hope to see this implemented soon
