As I’m waiting to ship out basic training by the first half of May, I’ve been working a lot on my body. Every morning I get up I left 20lb weights 50 times per arm twice a day (one brief round in the afternoon. I do 2 mile walks the majority of the week and plan to run 1 mile straight soon. Still have to do push-ups though and sit-ups. I’ve overhauled my diet too, for example, my daily protein intake used to be 20-25g per day back in 2018, nowadays its 60g-70g per day.
I know that my tentative ship date is early May, but could be earlier or later depending on orders. Which means I have some time to fight the weaknesses I got for the time being.
Anyway, I’m super excited to go to bootcamp and be the first in my family to be in the military.
Godspeed!:)

I’m going to the Air Force when I graduate high school. After one term, I’m leaving to train for airline pilot training.
If you have any tips on getting in, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Good luck on your time in the Air Force, but this isnt something aviation related in the real world.

Sure man!
For the ASVAB, this was weird because I first took it 2 years ago and I got a 31, and studied a few hours for it…I was really sad, I needed a 36 to actually get in I believe. So last October I took it again, didn’t even study a minute for it and got a 44. I qualified for 13 jobs…from vehicular systems management and analysis, operations (which I chose), and a few services and HR roles. I started the medical screening back in December, but the doctors spotted a slightly elevated heart rate and asked me to see a cardiologist. I felt down but had to get it done. I went to my regional hospital twice in a month, and my cardiologist told me ‘yes your heart can beat a bit weird; but in your case I’m not concerned since you’ve gone through significant physical and mental changes. I did a heart echo, a full ECG test, and a 48 hour-chest Holter monitor which all came clear. I was very happy; so in late March I went back to the processing station and my final inspection was a pass. I swore in, got it over with, and now I’m attempting to change my physical stature, which is going by well…so far.
Only thing I can say is, hold your head up high. You can do it. As big or small you may be, you can still take the oath, as long as your determined to serve yourself and your country. It’s a matter of time till I see how bootcamp is :)

Yeah, I just wish I didn’t have to stay at home all day…:(
It’s tough man for sure but you have to stay resilient. Your BMT time will come and the TI’s will shape you into being an Airman. Life will find a way back to normal, just might be a new normal.
