Honestly, I have no problem at all with the update being delayed. That’s completely fine. What I find unnecessary is the lack of communication about it. You could have simply said: “We found some issues we need to fix, so it will take a bit longer.”
Instead, it feels like you’re struggling with statements like “We never said it would come at the end of October, that was just an estimate.” That’s unnecessary. Just being honest and transparent would have been enough.
It doesn’t surprise me that the conversation in the community is now only about the update, especially when you still post pictures without saying anything about it – like yesterday’s post. For some people, that naturally comes across as provocative, especially when questions about the update are mentioned and it feels like it’s being made fun of.
Paying users don’t expect perfection – we just expect clear communication and some respect for the community that supports you.
It was never delayed. They never gave a definitive date. All that was said is that they were aiming for the end of October, and it was never guaranteed that the update would happen on that timeline.
It also was communicated that they had run into bugs (not through “official” channels but it was brought up in general conversation).
What I assume is that when they said they were aiming for end of October, people mistook it in a literal sense, they thought the update would be released exactly at the end of October.
I’m not gonna lie here, even I took it as literal confirmation that the new update would release on the exact last days of October.
With an update that is overhauling a massive aspect of the simulator, this is something that the devs will want to get right without having to do a million post-release hotfixes.
No one wants them to release something which is full of bugs, and I think we would all rather wait longer if it means a smoother release.
I just don’t understand why, when so many people, especially on Instagram are excitedly asking about the update, there isn’t a single comment addressing it. This isn’t about something negative NO it’s about something people are genuinely looking forward to and are happy about it because its something beautiful and it’s treated as if those who are excited are being a problem, which makes no sense.
Because the answer is simply going to be the same as it always has been before - “the update will come when the developers are ready to release it” - they are never going to give a precise date.
Man you guys need to find something else to do with your lives
Surely you’ve got a job or something to keep you busy - getting this worked up over an iPad flight simulator is hilarious. I guess it must be school holidays!!
Also this. In fact the update will actually seem to “come quicker” if everyone just gets on with their lives and stops worrying about when the update will come.
I don’t think you understand what this post is really about. It’s not about asking when the update will come. I’m just criticizing the way you’re treating the people who are eagerly waiting for it. Many were very, very excited that it was supposed to come at the end of October, and now they’re being dismissed as if they’re only fixated on the update and have nothing else to do. I think you just don’t understand that these are peaceful, paying customers who were simply looking forward to an update and are disappointed because of it.
I don’t really know what you mean with this comment, and I also don’t understand why you’re seeking attention here. Go find your attention somewhere else, or fly another round if you’re feeling bad.
I would say that how we communicate these things actually matters a lot. Especially when so many people are clearly asking about it, you could just say: “Hey, we’re working on it, we thought it would come by the end of October, but it won’t be ready yet.” Ignoring it completely feels wrong, especially since these are still paying customers.
Im giving up on this discussion. An apology wouldn’t hurt. Instead of arguing that it was never promised for the end of October, just say sorry. I don’t think you get what I mean – the way you talk to the people who pay for your service.
Maybe it’s just me, but as an Austrian, I expect that if something doesn’t happen as planned, an apology is in order, instead of insisting that it was never a fixed date but just an estimate. I don’t know where your company is from – as far as I know, Switzerland – but the way you’re handling all of this seems questionable to me. Thank u for the time, This discussion is hereby over, without reaching any agreement.
That’s very childish of you to think like that and btw it’s not a free service you are getting but you are literally paying for a service. Look on the internet how people go wild when stuff like this happens.
My man was just asking for clearer communication . No need to tell us to get a life over asking the devs a question.
I personally agree. Even if “end of October” was just an estimate and not actually the release date, it should have been better communicated… And gaslighting paying customers who use your service by saying “we told you it won’t come in October” or “we already told you it’s delayed” is stupid. Clearly the clear communication wasn’t there, and belittling users (for lack of a better word) for not seeing the poorly communicated info or just asking where the update is, is wrong. We pay for the service we should be allowed to ask questions on the timeline.
With that said, I don’t fly super often so idrc when the update comes, I am excited for it though. Just would like better communication and to not be talked down to by devs/regulars.
I don’t believe anyone has gaslighted or belittled anyone. Nor do I believe that anyone has been denied asking questions.
The general feeling to me based on what I’ve seen in here and on Discord, is that the communication has been clear. The vast majority of our users have understood that our hopes were to have it out for end of October but that there was a high chance of that not happening.
I’m going to revert back to my previous statement in this case, as these kinds of discussions have occurred many times in the past and I doubt this will be the last one:
There simply isn’t a way of communicating about these things without someone being dissatisfied with how we’ve done it.
Your comment is formally correct, but it lacks empathy and genuine acknowledgment that the communication was unclear or frustrating for some. It’s a classic example of “we’ve said everything, so everything is fine,” without really addressing the needs of the users.
