Update 2 Ground Vehicle Textures to HD

Hey everyone!

We’re all enjoying 3D buildings and GSE at airports around the world, and I think we can all agree the developers have done a great job implementing this great feature! However, I wanted to point out two instances where I’d like to see a small fix to GSE present in-sim.

The change itself concerns the airport pallet loader and the small fuel truck, as these two pieces of equipment have much lower-quality textures than the other GSE. All vehicles have a slight grainy texture when you zoom up close, which I would assume is due to rendering efficiency. However, the pallet loader and fuel truck are much more noticeable in this regard, and from further away. Therefore, this feature request is to have the textures of these two GSE updated to better match the other GSE.


What would be the benefits, you might ask?

  1. General aesthetics as you admire your plane sitting in the gate.
  2. Later, as you walk around the ramp and explore the airport, it feels much more realistic, as opposed to getting reminded this is just a computer program.
  3. After you explore, when taking screenshots from the ramp, textures are much clearer and better suited for those 4K screenshot captures!

I’m not asking for perfect crystal clear 4K textures (although I really hope we can see those one day!) This is just for the two pieces of GSE that look much lower quality than the rest of the airport.

Having been here for 6 years, I know that a feature category post can really only have one photo. Because of the specific nature of the request, and to better illustrate my point, I’ve included three photos below. If the moderators insist on just one, I will make the necessary adjustments, but hopefully it’s understood this is to illustrate my point.

In the above photo, we have the pallet loader, which is labeled “ABT” and “Ranger”, but you are hard-pressed to see that easily. Compare that now to the “Cargo Container” and “AKE 56932069” labels, and you can see a clear differentiation. Note that all settings are on high, and this was taken in-game without the screenshot feature (which in any event unfortunately doesn’t help the inherent texture quality).

Next we have the small fuel truck, which has very noticeable blurred graphics along its tank. Again, compared to surrounding equipment this is very noticeable and detracts from the rest of the 3D environment.

Lastly is a portable power generator, which is included to show you that smaller pieces of equipment can and do have higher quality textures. All I’m asking is for the pallet loader and fuel tanker to look a bit more like this!

Thanks for posting this , you have my support. BUT they need to fix the screwed up aircraft textures too.
ASAP !!

If IF can add AGV that drived by trained-drivers, that would be great! Don’t need to worry about whether this spot is available for your large-body aircraft. Maybe we have to start a recruit of drivers like IFATC lol

Yes The texturing needs to be better

Glad to see there seems to be some consensus about the issue of texturing for these two GSE types. Hope this is able to be noted for later revisions to 3D modeling/textures. More votes always help - thanks to those who have done so!

I think eventually they will update the textures along with adding more 3d airports. We have to remember that the 3D airports are still new and adding ground vehicles is like extra. Though I would love to see HD and even working ground vehicles.

It’s been a month, so I wanted to bring this back up. I’m not sure what the process is for texturing 3D objects, but hoping this can be addressed in an update in the near future!
