Update (2): AtlasGlobal Suspends Operations Again

Update 1/18/20

AtlasGlobal has suspended flights again until February 9, 2020.

Additionally, according to AirTürkHaber, AtlasGlobal suspended its A330 aircraft on January 17.

FROM DECEMBER 2019:

AtlasGlobal is now back and flying!

About Their Previous Suspension (NOVEMBER 2019):

Istanbul-based AtlasGlobal will suspend all flights from November 26 (Today) to December 21, 2019.

  • Ticket sales have been suspended and will return on December 16, 2019.
  • The airline claims it’s “restructuring in order to provide you unique flight experience.”
  • It’s unconfirmed if the airline is financially struggling in some way.

Message from their Facebook:

The airline operates a pure Airbus fleet comprised of the A319, A320, A321, and A330. With a hub in Istanbul and a focus city in Antalya, the airline operates numerous routes throughout Europe and Asia.

If this really means the airline is financially struggling and potentially on the verge of collapse… well, good luck.

This is rather interesting. Was not expecting it at all either!

sad … it’s a good airline with a good service … unfortunately it was discontinued but not bankrupt … but if a company has financial problems it will be very good or they will go bankrupt … hopefully make it back to the top line🙁

that was really unexpected, thanks for sharing

Can someone who knows the whole airline business well explain to me why this keeps happening?

There’s many possible reasons. I can’t seem to find AtlasGlobal’s latest financial results so can’t determine the actual reason.

But there’s a wide variety of reasons: bad usage of fleet, bad network, not making enough money from selling tickets, etc.

Restructuring likely means they’re aiming to fix things like the network and on-board “experience”. That could mean cost-cutting to simple things like amenities.

I was about to say, Atlas Air is a huge Charter Airline in USA, how’s it bankrupt?

F in chat for this Atlas tho

AtlasGlobal is in a crisis because IF didn’t apply them into the game. Also OnurAir, Pegasus, Anadolujet, Sunexpress and even Turkish Airlines (because of THY B738) are under the danger.

It’s odd theres no actual explanation of what they are changing to make “your flight more unique” or if they are just struggling financially. I’ve actually never heard of them but am interested to hear what they are doing in this long time period of suspending flights.

They’re probably just averting chaos and saying that rather than “we’re financially doomed”.

I agree with what your saying. It doesn’t give their company a good reflection when they say that. We’ll just have to see what’s gonna happen.

Apparently stopped due to finicial issues. Really random to this airline suspend its flights. Smartly they should move the aircraft to airports with lower parking fees so out of Antalya and any Istanbul airport

This is bad, something’s not right.

Especially here in Europe we have a high overcapacity of seats, which has lead to a price battle. As the prices are low (and getting lower) the margins have decreased and cost-cutting is extremely important. If you can’t keep up with the low prices and cost reductions they will have to exit the market.

I believe the LH Group CEO said that he expects just 5 airline groups to remain in Europe once the market consolidation is completed.

Interesting.

It seems like they accidentally clicked the AP SPEED button and dropped a lot of speed halfway IF Reference

I heard they are doing mostly charters now and very minimal passenger operations.

Well, that’s really not a good sign. I hope they will be able to return with their new business model and stay afloat for the time being.
