Unrealistic ATC Area: Vienna Radar Controls Slovak Airspace

Vienna Radar kept me flying in Slovak airspace for over 20 minutes, giving no vectors back to Austria.

This isn’t realistic at all — in real life, Austrian and Slovak airspaces are managed separately by Austro Control and LPS Bratislava.

It would be great if Infinite Flight could make ATC areas match real FIR boundaries for a more realistic experience.I was really looking forward to this flight because ity my homebase but it turned out to be a joke — I’ve been flying in circles for nothing. Very disappointing.

Hello,
So sorry for your experience today but I would like to just bring to your awareness a couple of things:

  1. Aircraft arriving into LOWW today is far more than the aircraft arrival at the airport IRL - currently there are 103 aircraft scheduled to land @LOWW in IF within the next 60 mins while LOWW IRL has 15/hour
  2. IFATC’s goal during this surge in aircraft arrivals is first to provide expeditious service, then to focus on realism

If you have any concerns about my data take a look:

I had the same issue and he told me to divert to a suitable destination so I was diverting to my Origin Airport in Slovakia. He then hit me with a Level 3 for failing to comply with the Heading Alt or Speed. It’s the person who’s controlling 134.65 I believe

That should be appealed. Sounds like the controllers fault

You can find the controller’s name in your replay as well as ATC instructions given to you

Yep. Appeals have already been informed and Jinco is handling

Jinco is sooooo helpful

Yes, guys, I was there and I really saw Europe so crowded for the first time, I think it’s normal for people to make mistakes in ATCs, object, it’s not a big problem.

Welp.. false he didn’t help me

The reason is lake of radar controllers.

Hello, @Zoni772!

I’ll try to give an answer to your post, although I wasn’t there at the exact moment you were flying into Vienna. I did fly a couple of times in and out of it yesterday, though.

Sometimes, despite trying to follow IRL procedures as much as possible when able, IFATC controllers found themselves using different procedures for planes. This often happens at the so-called “Hub”, which is usually the busiest airport for the day, which, in yesterday’s case, was Vienna. Now, generally speaking, as I do not know for sure what happened on your flight so I can’t tell that exactly, if the airspace is flooded with planes (it reached a point yesterday when I was flying in that there were, according to an IF flight tracker, 100 inbounds in the next 30 minutes into LOWW), there will obviously be unrealistic procedures. The whole airspace would be unrealistic in itself in the first place, as it would never reach such a number of inbound planes at any time in real life. This means that, unfortunately, some unrealistic procedures have to take place to make sure everyone lands in any possible way, while always trying to maintain efficiency and in-game safety.

I would agree with you that having a better experience with FIRs would make everything more realistic; however, I don’t know how what you said would be easy to introduce. That being said, I’m sorry that your experience wasn’t as planned or expected. That’s not a pleasant thing, I can imagine. It is just something which may happen in this sim, though, considering the high level of traffic it gets at just one specific airport sometimes.

On a side note, @Brttttttttt5, to make things clear and fair, I would like to correct you here. As for what it would sound like from the topic by the OP, you did not have their same issue, as you never had to fly in circles or were vectored in Slovak airspace. You took off from a Slovak airport and were given one single vector before being asked to divert, which you did not do, resulting in a violation, unfortunately.

Then, I would kindly ask you to avoid sharing misinformation or simply incorrect statements that would make me or my actions look wrong. I did help you as much as I could, as I always do with everyone I interact with here. In fact, it took me at least 20 minutes of my precious free time to review and write the message I sent to you in your appeal PM, which was a 390-word-long (or 2180-character) message. It included feedback about the replay of the flight, where you got reported with timestamps, as well as tips on how to avoid violations in the future. Additionally, after this message, I also replied to your question about when you would get back to Grade 3, with the date and even more feedback/tips/general knowledge on violations.

In the message we had, you never expressed your disappointment with my service, which you call unhelpful, nor did you ask any questions about what I wrote, for which I could have answered you there. As a general reminder for you, or everyone reading this, help at the Appeals inbox does not equal getting your violation removed, but rather, having a learning lesson from what happened (which could also be a learning lesson for IFATC controllers in case they were wrong). We voluntarily spend a lot of time on the Appeals Team to help you out, so receiving such accusations or statements saying I, in particular, and Appeals in general, do not help is simply disappointing. Instead, it would be appreciated if our time spent on helping you out to learn about your violations, or violations in general, was even rewarded with a “Thank you”, which is something that, thankfully, we often receive.

I’m not mad or anything, but that sentence kind of disappointed me, knowing how much I’ve done for that appeal, or any other in general. Not helping would have been simply not caring and leaving the message unanswered.

I will be glad to answer anyone’s questions as best as I can! Thank you so much :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
