United Unveils New Interior

United Unveils New Interior

After almost a decade since Polaris was first released, United finally has a new design - a major upgrade. First teased a few weeks ago, the new cabins (called the “United Elevate” interior) will first roll out on their new 787s.

Perhaps the biggest change is the introduction of Polaris Studios. The Polaris Studio will be in the bulkhead of the two business-class cabins. The Polaris Studios have larger spaces with seating for two and a sliding door. According to The Points Guy, the Studios will be retrofitted with 27-inch 4K OLED touchscreens, making them the largest on any US carrier. There will also be Bluetooth connectivity to said screens, as well as wireless charging pads, USB-C ports and universal AC electrical outlets..

Aesthetically, the Polaris Studios feature “quartzite tables, a wool-blend seat finish and wood-grain trim.” Passengers in Polaris Studios can expect new amenity kits with goodies like pajamas, noise-canceling headphones, and United playing cards.

In a very Delta move, United is also adding tarmac transfers for some Polaris passengers.

Passengers who aren’t willing to shell out quite as much as the Polaris Pods aren’t totally left out - United is upgrading their regular economy cabin too! There will 13-inch, 4K OLED screens featuring Bluetooth connectivity and six power outlets per row, as well as a “shell-like seat” that United says will “enhance relaxation.”

So excited for this :laughing::laughing:
Really hoping this new Polaris is precursor to what will be on the Overture :crossed_fingers:

Wow, 56 business class seats… the new Polaris suites look like they are based off of the Collins Aerospace Element seats, much like Cathay’s Aria suites, which is nice considering my distaste for their current Polaris cabins with the Safran Optima seats. Of course, I’ll probably never fly them considering I’m based at SDQ, and having to fly to Newark if I want to fly United anywhere is not something I want to do.

It’s probably going to be of similar config to the Concorde with recliner seats like the Recaro R5s or Collins Aerospace MiQs that they currently use. Even though it will be on medium-haul flights, That mach 2 cruise speed will speed everything up substantially, so United will probably use the recliner seats to avoid sacrificing space for lie-flats.

Perhaps even a version of their premium plus :man_shrugging:

I was thinking it would be more similar to their Domestic First product, considering the level of service is higher there than with Premium Plus. If you can’t tell, I’m a sucker for aircraft interiors.

aeroLOPA already has a seat map for it too, it gives me A321T vibes with that smol economy section.

Even though I probably won’t fly on these for a long time, I wonder if United will send these new cabins to Adelaide.
