United’s base on a Pacific Island - Guam

Hey y’all I’m creating a new topic which is interesting to say the least. There isn’t any other topic related, so I decided to start it

Hey y’all, some of you guys know this but United has a base out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and that is Guam. It’s pretty interesting because there are actually 737s that fly to Japan, the Philippines, soon Mongolia, and don’t forget about the famous “Island Hopper” route that stops between Honolulu and Guam. United’s 737 at the Guam base are rotated every three years due to corrosion. Additionally, a daily 777 flight arrives from the US Mainland via Honolulu.

But did you know that this base existed long before United took it over? It was a former Continental Airlines base when it started operations there in the late 60s. Previously, 727s, DC-10s, 757s, 767-400s and even 747s were based there.

United recently restarted intra-Asia operations from Tokyo to Cebu as UA32, the same flight number is also used on the LAX-NRT flight, the same applies with the return flight (UA33).

In my opinion, seeing United’s 737 in another country overseas is pretty interesting, which I actually got to see a couple this year on my trip to Japan
