United orders more 737-700s, converts widebody orders

That’s unusual to me

If regional destinations start having more popularity, why would you order more smaller aircraft when you can order less, bigger aircraft, with more capacity?

The idea is that UA wants to rid itself of the uneconomic and non-pax friendly 35-50 seaters, the CRJ-200, ERJ-135, and ERJ-145. To replace the 50 seat markets, UA is putting in E-175s to pick up the flying. In addition to purchasing new E-175s, UA needs some 73Gs to fill in some lost E-175 flying and to add more domestic flights.

As for the widebodies, that’s up to UAs longhaul plan.
