United Airlines to start service from San Francisco to Dublin in 2020

Starting in the summer of 2020 United will fly from San Francisco to Dublin.

United will operate these flights with a Boeing 787-8, with the following schedule:
UA853 San Francisco to Dublin departing 3:55 PM arriving 9:45 AM (+1 day)
UA852 Dublin to San Francisco departing 11:50 AM arriving 2:20PM

One interesting thing about this announcement is that United has an existing partnership with Aer Lingus. This partnership allows MileagePlus members to earn and redeem miles for Aer Lingus flights. With that said, they don’t know how much longer this partnership will last being that more and more flights will overlap.

This is a good start for airlines in North America to start flights to other inhabited continents such as Europe, but Asia is just around the corner to particular places like Tokyo and New Delhi :/. Yes, Europe is quite a populated continent and so is North America so it would be obvious that airlines from either side would want to connect the two inhabited continents to receive profit but I wonder why Asia isn’t mentioned as much. :/

Arise Irishmen! May the warm Californian coasts arrive into that green island it will be nice to see another United route. I love seeing the Boeing 787-10 approaching Dublin Airport. Such a stunning airplane.

This will profit our economy, airport and destinations. 🇮🇪 🇺🇲

I wish there was service from San Jose (SJC) to Ireland…

But anyways, @GlobalFlyer1 take a look at this

Yay! Really excited!

United has been upgrading most of their routes with the 788 to the 789 or the 7810, so I assume this will be because they have some that won’t be used during specific times of the day. We’re also getting a lot of new European destinations/aircraft changes, with Alitalia and LOT set to begin flying here, as well as Virgin’s A35K!

Spending a day in Dublin on the way back from Croatia this summer. We’re flying Aer Lingus, though.
