United Airlines Eye’s 777X Acquisition

Here is the original story from DJ’s Aviation:

I wanted to bring to the community to share my excitement for such an idea!

To sum up the situation, Emirates recently announced they will not be taking 11 of the early 777X builds that were meant for them due to costly repairs getting them up to certification speed. This opened the door for United, who according to sources is considering possibly acquiring 20 early build 777X. United would become the US launch of the 777X and since these planes are already built, the timeline of putting them into service is far sooner than imaginable!

What routes would you like to see United use this plane on?

HND-EWR/ORD or somewhere on the midwest/east, also SYD-LAX/SFO.

Great to hear!

Middle East routes like SFO - DXB if they start that one. They have it from EWR but SFO could be another option

Not sure where UA is headed in the next few years, but in my opinion it’s with the Dreamliner family. Although they’re not happy with Boeing, they’d rather get out of as many delays as possible.

Theyve already heavily invested in the dreamliner. Those plans wont go anywhere if they acquire the 777X. The 777X has significantly more payload than any of the 787s so those aircraft are gonna be deployed on super high demand passenger/cargo trunk routes

See this is cool but its just going to look wrong. They get their first batch of A350-1000 next year

It will look weird for Delta?

The 787-10 and A350-1000 aren’t really comparable…

787-10 and A350-1000 will fill completely different roles. A35K will be the premium long-haul flagship, and the B78X will most likely serve South America from ATL and European leisure routes from JFK.

787-10 is meant to replace the 767-400s and yes the A350-1000 is premium long haul trunk routed

Not the 1000 but the 787 will look out of place.

no yea I was just saying the 787 will look out of place and then just said that delta is getting their A350-1000

I guess it wont happen after all :smiling_face_with_tear:
