Today, UA5675, a CRJ200 flying from Los Angles to San Diego was forced to land on a highway after their glideslope indicator failed. The plane was approaching Motgomeary field because SAN didn’t approve their landing. Then the pilot noticed the low altitude and tried to pull up but the heavy CRJ’s engines were not able to pull the plane up safely. At last, the pilots needed to land the plane on a highway near Motgomeary field.
The plane bouced off the ground many times and 31 passengers had minor injuries but nobody died. The aircraft had suffered serious damage in the landing.
You wouldn’t land on a highway because the glideslope indicator failed… I dread to think when live displays are added what will happen, no predicted flight path.
I don’t understand how a failed guide slope indicator would cause a crash? Also why would KSAN not allow the plane to land? Why would the engines not be able to power the plane up? If there was not enough time to power up the engines then how was there enough time to turn the plane to line up with the road?
So, montgomery field is only a GA airport, not gonna accept a CRJ-200. Why would KSAN not approve the crj? Also, the only highway by montgomery is the interstate 5, which is packed with cars… So landing on it probably killed quite a few people.
Thought this might have happened, you would have enough fuel for 30 minutes, there are plentiful airports which can take a CRJ (for an emergency landing) nearby.
So this guy is on trial for intentionally grounding an aircraft when simulators clearly showed he could have made it back? Or to a nearby airport? I DEMAND TO SEE PROOF!!! Were you flying this aircraft at the time? @anon45516261 should be hailed as a hero…blinks…actually I don’t think so anymore
