United 737 Review | Grand Rapids - Chicago

I'm out of creative dropdown names

Departure Airport: Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR/KGRR)
Arrival Airport: Chicago - O’hare International Airport (ORD/KORD)
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800
Airline: United Airlines
Flight Time: 33 minutes
Server: Expert

I got to the airport about 90 minutes before the start of my journey, more then enough time to drop off my bag and clear security. My ride to Chicago today pulled in from Denver just a couple minutes after I got through to the airside area.

I had a great engine view in Economy Plus for this short flight to the Windy City. We rocketed off runway 8R, and made a sharp bank westbound

We climbed up to 21,000 feet, passing over the city of Grand Rapids on our way up. It was a mostly smooth ride. Because of how short our flight was, there wasn’t any service offered this morning, which was fine by me

As we flew parallel to Lake Michigan, I connected to the WiFi, which worked really well.

We already began our descent about halfway across the lake. It was fairly windy, which isn’t all too unusual for the Great Lakes in the Winter.

Crossing over onto dry land again, we got an incredible view of the Chicago Lakeshore, right near Montrose Beach

Coming in on a gusty short final for runway 28R

Thanks to a firm touchdown and some heavy braking, we were able to make the first runway exit, closest to our gate

I stopped to take a final look at our plane, which was already being cleaned and loaded for a flight out to Colorado Springs. Because we had a nice tailwind and left on schedule, we got in an entire 28 minutes early, leaving me with nearly 3 hours until my connection on to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific
