Antwerp Airport (EBAW) welcomed a unique visitor on Saturday 15 July 2017. One of Aegean’s Airbus A320, SX-DVI, operated a charter flight from Athens picking up football team Olympiacos FC. The flight came in empty around 22h00 local time and left with some 60 passengers back to Greece about 30 minutes later.
Regular traffic at this airport these days consists of Embraer E190 and ATR 42. In the aftermath of the Brussels Attacks in March 2016, some Avro RJ100’s of Brussels Airlines got relocated to the regional airport for a short time.
The airport’s runway length is barely 1,500 meters. The Airbus has landed on & taken off from Runway 29. You can clearly see the pilots pulling the breaks upon arrival!
