Underappreciated 2D or 3D Airports and Scenery?

Basically operations moved from SEQU to SEQM and now SEQU is no longer a commercial airport, it is a park now.

New airport in Peru I just got from a Youtube video, SPQU, Rodriguez Ballon International Airport. 8,400ft (2,560m). It’s 2D but very cool steep yet barren terrain. A high very distinct volcano cone, and it all looks very otherworldly (could be on another planet). Peru is a spectacular country.

I’ll have to check it out!

I just finished flying from Dallas to Telluride. Highly recommend.

I just tried this. Talk about transition from flat to mountains! Dallas is flat but has a lot of nice color and shape contrast in the texturing. It’s amazing how Texas is so flat all the way to the New Mexico border. New Mexico changes the terrain, but the Colorado border hits you in the face with the Rockies.

It’s a flight of the biggest contrast, landing in those mountains.

After visiting it on my Asking ChatGPT where to fly challenge, I have to say that Cusco (SPZO) in Peru is a very beautiful and difficult airport to land on. At more than 10,000 feet of altitude, surrounded by mountains, simply stunning!

A straight in approach to SEA from the north is beautiful during sunrise/sunset. The details aren’t visible on IF so you will need to fly IRL. Make sure to get a seat on the right side of the plane!

Definitely the new Salt Lake City international Airport. I love how if FINALLY became 3D. Great job to whoever made it possible.

Dublin!!! Really pretty approach

There’s this island called “Canton Island” and it has a small airport on it, but the scenery there is amazing!!

Your most favourite airport no?🤣😊

It’s not 3D but Sabiha Gokcen Airport (LTFJ) has a great view of Istanbul when approaching to runway 06 left traffic I do LFPG-LTFJ once in a while on Pegasus 737-800 or LYBE-LTFJ on Anadolujet 737-800

Yeah, SPZO is some crazy spectacular mountain scenery, 3D and at nose bleed airport altitude! I was just checking it out. Not just the ruggedness but the color is pretty unique. And I chanced upon what looked like massive earthquake fault lines over parts of the mountains.

Probably one of my underrated airport is Split Airport LDSP, it has a great visual approach and a great ILS approach, beautiful blue Adriatic Sea and the approach over island Trogir and the city of Split. Also there’s an airport on island Brac Bol airport LDSB. It’s visual approach is also amazing if you are landing over the beach called Golden Horn beach.

In IF it’s quite amazing scenery. I was looking at it just now from 5000-7000ft, but in broad daylight. The 3D SEA is a nice airport, and you get the snow capped mountains at the fringe, and green mixed with the extensive waterways forcing the shape of the urban areas. And it’s a massive contrast with @Alboma’s mentioned SPZO.

Just took off out of Juba, South Sudan. Pretty neat.

I was going to look at these in order, but I briefly skipped ahead to Juba because I don’t know that area. Where were you headed?

I looked for prominent features and the so-called White Nile, a tributary of the Nile River, runs close to the north border. So, I headed there to take a look. Saw some interesting river scenery even before getting to the north. I ended up at HJMK at a fork in the river, at Malakal.
