Unable

Hi, Will I get ghosted/reported If I use the Unable button?

If it’s for no good cause then probably yes. If there’s a mountain in front of you and you were told to descent into it (not intentionally, obviously) then you can say unable.

Nope, if you’re actually unable to do an ATC’s orders, then that’s their problem and they will need to instruct something else.

Oh Thanks… but how would the ATC know If I have a reason or not?

They should be able to see you. If there’s a mountain they’ll understand and reinstruct you.

It’s usually very obvious if it’s for a good reason.

For example, if someone takes off from a gravel strip right next to the busiest airport on Expert Server during FNF and requests ILS approach, they will be vectored to the back of the approach line. More often than not, they will reply “unable” and try to turn right to the end of a runway. That is a blatant disregard for ATC instructions by using “Unable”.

Now, say that ATC for some reason instructs you to maintain 130 knots or less on approach with an A380 or descends you to 7000 in an area where the airport is at 8000 feet, then it would be more plausible to reply with “unable”.
