Unable to continue using an older version of the app

Currently, the app forces users to update to the latest version. What this means is that all previous replays (24.4 and prior) are essentially lost as a result. This is a major setback for content creators who may have replays in 24.4 and before that are yet to be recorded. I think the app should include an option to continue on the older version, so that the replays are at least accessible for purposes like screen recording. A disclaimer that the user will not be able to access the new servers or features can be included.

Better yet, allow for cross-compatibility between replays in both 24.4 and 25.1.

Hey there! I’d see this reply:

Essentially, a week after each major update is when the previous version will stop working

Yep, I’m in the same boat as you. It’s very frustrating, especially because we’ve been pampered with it all rolling over in the past.

I think it makes sense since (someone please correct me if I’m wrong, this is pretty much speculation) they move to new servers and it’d be quite challenging/resource-intensive (or whatever the right way to describe it is) to keep all old and new servers running. Again, just how I’m imagining it.

It’s been very.. iffy at best. Sometimes yes, but there’s been loads of cross-compatibility issues between major version in the past.

With more work that’s being done server side to improve the multiplayer aspect of it all - the more impacted are replays. And this goes for Solo replays as well.
It’s simply not possible technically, to keep replays between different major versions with so many changes happening on the server/networking side of the app. In the best of worlds, we wouldn’t need to do this but the reality is different.

Not trying to pound myself on the chest here - but in this aspect, most games with similar functionality shut old things down immediately, blocking all replays and older versions. We try to at least push that a bit and keep things running so people have some time go get things in order.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I understand the difficulty in doing so given the amount of changes that are being made. It’s just rather unfortunate.
