Hey everyone! I’m back with another spotting topic, this one from September 2024! Every September, UN Week or the UNGA is hosted at UN Headquarters in Manhattan. During this time, representatives fly in from every country in the United Nations. I happened to be staying at the TWA Hotel at the time, so I got some good pics! Let’s get started.
This Jetblue A220 had quite a situation! It was enroute BOS-PBI before it experienced an inflight emergency and was diverted over to JFK. I am not exactly sure what the emergency was, but over 3000 people were tracking it on FR24! A dozen fire trucks and another dozen police cars met the plane, along with some mechanics. They eventually pulled the plane away.
Beautiful pictures! JFK has some of the best variety of traffic in the country, if not the world. So hard to choose a favorite, but I think I’d have to go with that Etihad A380.
I absolutely love plane spotting at JFK I actually started going during the summer. I know of some good places for over head shots. I go to the spots I am talking about every time I am out there. the best spot is Bayview spot. Although airlines love to cut their engines as soon as they lift off the amazing airport view makes up heavily for it.
You can’t forget the contrails either. During the winter season the skies out there are filled with amazing contrails making planes easier to spot at high altitudes. I mostly see them going to IAD, ATL, BOS and many other airports.
