I can’t click the link, but go F/A-18, whoever shot him down is a pro

Yeah good job f-18 pilot. I’ve never actually lived through a serious air to air war, so this is quite exciting for me.

Not the war part, but you know what I mean.

Yes, it definetly seems right to have shot down that Su-22. Pretty sure there is some sort of violation the Su-22 committed. I just hope that when the pilot who shot the Su-22 down returns home he’s regarded as a hero, because these days when stuff like that happens they are not always regarded as heroes…

I heard the reason was that the SU-22 was bombing American coalition positions, so yes, it was right to shoot it down.

If you read the article, the SU-22 was coming off a bombing run on U.S. backed forces when the F-18 shot him down. There is no word on if the SU-22 pilot ejected or was captured. Very early news release

I did read the whole article however I just said “some sort of violation” because I wasn’t sure what the official name for the violation would be. Sorry for confusing you

Sad enough this has to happen, I would be happier without reading such incidents in the news…

Nothing sad about this? Shows that the us has a strong and tough military?

I know the army is strong, that’s very reassuring, but I hope they will make peace there soon.

There will always be war before peace. History can confirm this.

You guys are all wrong, no offense. We all have different views, but war brings more war, not peace. The only way we can make peace is to love each other, not kill each other and show off how good our nation is.

Just putting my opinion out there. See you guys round’

I respect your opinion in this matter. We can all hope for a peaceful resolution to all of this. Unfortunately, Syria is led by an individual who would rather suffocate men, women and children with chemical weapons than give up his power. Then there is the ISIS threat and the potential Russian altercation. We have a ways to go before we see peace in this region. It’s great to see that our pilots are up for that kind of challenge. (Not that they shouldn’t be). The fact that it’s been so long since we’ve seen air to air combat gives me confidence that our pilots are well trained.

Unfortunately, I’m agree with @mbmhwue148 and @SF34 . There’s nothing good with these kind of wars. There’s nothing should be proud of imho. Even if I’m a US Citizen, I wouldn’t be proud of these attacks especially if it’s due to political interest. There’s nothing good when it goes to wars due to political interest

The only thing that I’ll get you on is that it was a justified kill. If an enemy aircraft is attacking coalition forces it’s signing its own death warrant. If the war itself is justified it’s a different matter, but this specific incident that F/A-18 was within all his rights to do this

its sad that people are shooting other people down i prefer aviation when its planes without guns

America has involved its self into to many conflicts that do not benefit its security or global security

the Syrian civil war start off being a domestic issue and relatively small until big powers started supporting opposition sides now it involves many groups and nations.
