Yea, think about it as a competitor of Pan Am, one of the first (if not, the first) globally recognized U.S. airline.
For hints, TWA lasted from 1925-2001.

@Johnny_K_Thai I was referring to the fact that someone considers 2001 as a year so far away. Feels like only a couple weeks ago :). Least to me.

Yes, TWA was acquired by American in 2001.
Unfortunately. TWA was failing because of cough cough poor leadership so eventually they found a buyer, American Airlines, which eventually folded TWA into themselves. Just like US Airways and Reno Air and AirCal and tons of other airlines I wish were still alive.
