TWA Hotel Spotting @ KJFK 11/23/19

Two days ago, I stayed at the TWA Hotel and went spotting! No need for a backstory, I’ll just skip to the pictures lol. These pictures are out of order btw. Some of these pictures were taken at night, so those aren’t as good (thanks to my 10/10 spotting skills).

This is 4X-EDA, a 789 of El Al.

Since we are at Terminal 5, I have to include a JetBlue here. This is N247JB, a JetBlue E190.

This is a nice A220-100 (N101DU) from Delta.

This is G-VPOP, a A35K of Virgin Atlantic. Sadly, this beautiful bird came during the night, so the picture isn’t that great. Editing helped improve the pic greatly tho.

Here we have N685TA, an Avianca A320.

This is 9V-SKG, an A380 from Singapore Air. It goes from KJFK to EDDF, if you were wondering.

Another A380, this is A6-APA from Etihad.

Here we have a nice B748 (B-248i) from Air China.

These are the only pictures I have deemed worthy of being posted. Happy Landings!

Awesome shots! JFK always has a great variety! I still gotta stay at the TWA hotel…

That El-Al is a 789 by the way, their 788s haven’t been delivered yet

It was great. I got up at 6:15, but the security guard wouldn’t let me up on the deck before 7 am. I almost missed a Qatar a35K.

Same, they changed it to 11AM!!! I missed the Qatar A35K. Kinda got it from the room lol

When at the deck, the spotting views are amazing tho lol.

That’s rough. I had to run out on my mom on breakfast and dinner to see an Emirates a380

Awesome photos! And… is the observation deck/pool open to everyone including people who aren’t staying? Because I might be going to JFK this week and it’ll involve a rather large layover.

I’m pretty sure it is, yeah

You have to pay to have access to the pool and deck ($50 on a weekend, $25 on a weekday, the purchase will be valid from 11 am to 11 pm. Note, these prices are per person).

So cool! Love seeing those heavies. It still amazes me that so much weight and metal can just fly away like that. Great shots.

I believe they started charging people this because it WAS free when the hotel opened, but they got so many outside spotters that the deck didn’t have room for guests staying at the hotel.
