Trips Across North America | Leg 11-17 Update

Hello there IFC!

This summer I want to embark on an amazing journey. I would like to visit all the states/provinces in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. On Wednesday, May 27, 2020 started my journey from KEWR to KPVD. Below I will put a table of all the flights I have completed. Since I will also log hours for a Virtual Airline during this, I will always depart where I have left off. For states/provinces unavailable in their route database I will come up with something different. If you would like to join me for one (or more) of these flights, feel free to PM me. Without further ado, “XXXX266 requesting pushback with information Alpha!”

I will be sure to do that! In addition, I will be writing a short description of my flights below. I appreciate the support!

This sounds fun! How are you deciding where to fly in States/Provinces that have many sizeable airports?

First, I check availability of booking with one of the VA’s I am in. Not only do I want to travel North America, but i’d like to log some hours too. Secondly, I am trying to fly into the biggest airport in that State/Province. I know for a fact I will need to double back on some of my flights, and I know there are some states that I want to see more of. Therefore it’s not necessarily a defined method. I will fly where my heart and curiosity leads me! :)

My First flight of this journey is COMPLETE!

The winds were very calm and the landing was a smooth -87 VS. Departure out of Newark led to the passing of many users getting ready for their daily overnight flight to Europe, Asia, and beyond. It was nice following the coastline of Connecticut, passing over Windsor Locks. New England is a region I hardly fly to, and I am proud to begin my journey here. The descent into Rhode Island really made me realize what a small state it is. I had entered the state at 8,000 feet, exited the state, and then re-entered at 5,000. The scenery was very nice and I hope my travels in IF take me back.

Until the next flight,
Jarrett

That sounds fun! New England has some of my favorite approach views in the US. I’m looking forward to see where you go next!

I have flown my second and third flights of this trip. As the sun was setting over the New York Harbor, my little CRJ-200 was descending back into Newark. After a hour or so stopover in Newark, I spawned back in with one of my favorite planes. This one was a beautiful A320-200. My ride would fly up to Portland Jetport in the lovely state of Maine. I was elated to see some hills, beautiful colors, and breezy harbors as crossed over the many states in the region. Among my route was KBOS, another airport bustling with travelers going to Amsterdam, Dublin, and even South Africa. I will spend the night in this beautiful city and head back to Newark tomorrow.

Until tomorrow,
Jarrett

Oh boy, I should’ve known that!!! :( Thanks for that embarrassing catch!

Haha lol, it’s also helpful becauSe otherwise you would have to fly Spirit into Atlantic City, or Frontier into Trenton

Hey IFC, its been a little bit! I flew back to Newark today and I hope to fly out to Vermont later tonight in an E-170. The winds at Newark were crazy! 5 nm out they were 43 kts and right before touch-down the wind calmed to 14kts, the rudder caused me to go left and I quickly announced go-around. The landing wasn’t too much better, a rough -315 VS. I hope to update you on the lovely Vermont later tonight.
Till the next one!

I flew into Vermont last night. This has been the best airport I’ve flown into so far! The approach was fun weaving through the mountains of Up-state New York and Vermont. This is one place i’d like to come back in a C172 and visit. in 2013, I had the pleasure of driving out here with my family. I think Vermont is a beautiful state and has some of the best license plates. My trip back to Newark this morning was uneventful. Lots of crosswind over the small mountains and hills and the scenery was stunning in the daylight. Upon arriving into Newark I had 3 ATC’s that did a great job! @AsternDestroyer was my approach controller. He led me on a beautiful STAR approach that I opted not to put into my flight plan for timing, he did a great job handling the busy air space and new-grade 3 pilots. @KailasSrinivasan was my tower and ATIS controller. He did a great job of quickly handling lots of traffic inbound and outbound. @OneLetterShor2 was my ground controller. He was extremely aware of his surroundings and made sure no airplanes collided with each other. Thank you to these controllers for adding to my experience.

I will now be posting the State I visited Weirdest Law or a fun fact about it. As well as a Trivia question about the state
